Title: The Bone Witch
Author: Rin Chupeco
Series: The Bone Witch, Book 1
Rating: 4/5

I am in love with this book! I wasn’t expecting to be so into it, it’s a little more of a young adult than I am used to reading at this point, but the story is so good and doesn’t really pull any punches except for in the romance department (and it probably wouldn’t even make sense to have a ton of romance in it at the moment) and I was enthralled. The story telling method that Chupeco uses got me hooked immediately. I don’t want to spoil anything in this review, so some things may sound vague and it will probably be a shorter review, but believe me when I say this book is worth a look.
Tea is a strong leading lady, and I loved learning about everything to do with the asha through her point of view and experiences. I feel like learning alongside her made it easier to understand what was going on without getting a massive info dump. Info dumps are one of my most hated things in books when they are done poorly, and can cause me to stop reading, so I was giddy with excitement to learn that wasn’t going to happen here. Tea was also just so great, I really like her character.
Fox is also great, though I do have some concerns about him. He seems very loyal, but also very much like a rule follower. And I’m pretty sure he has been keeping secrets, which is not good.
When we find out who is buried in the grave that is introduced at the beginning of the book, I about DIED. I loved the twist, I love who it is, I want more more more. I am not looking forward to watching/reading this person die, but it will comfort me to know how things will end up later on in the story for this person. It won’t be a character dying and the book letting you think they are for real for real dead, only to surprise you after you’ve already cried for them that they are actually still alive. ~cough cough Undertaking of Hart and Mercy cough cough~
Anyways, go read this book! Do it, it’s such a good book, and there’s two more to read after!
